Impaling is one of many different usable enchantments in Minecraft. In this guide we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the impaling enchantment & how to use it.
Impaling is an enchantment in Minecraft that can be applied to tridents & increases the damage with it against all aquatic mobs besides drowned.
In both Bedrock & Java Editions of Minecraft any player or mob that is in contact with water will take additional damage when attacked with an impaling enchanted trident.
For each level that you increase the impaling enchantment it will do 2.5 extra damage per hit on aquatic & water bound mobs.
Take a look at the chart below to see how the damage increases for each level of enchantment.
How to Get a Trident
Now that you know how the impaling enchantment works it might be helpful to know where to find a trident.
A trident can only be picked up from killing naturally spawning Drowned mobs. It is not possible to craft a trident or pick one up that a Drowned has thrown at you.
A Drowned has a 15% chance of dropping a trident in Bedrock & a 6.25% chance of dropping in the Java Edition.
The trident can be used by the player as a melee weapon or thrown at mobs as a projectile.
Player thrown tridents can be picked up & reused again.
