Curse of Vanishing is not removable from any item, weapon or armor effected by the curse. The only way out is death!
The Curse of Vanishing is one of two Minecraft cursed enchantments that changes gameplay in a negative & challenging way.
Any item can acquire this curse if it can receive at least one enchantment. When active the Curse of Vanishing causes any effected item to disappear from the game on death.
The item will not drop on the ground & isn’t recoverable in any way. This effectively deletes the item from the game completely.
Curses mix in with regular enchantments.
Tip: If you manually drop an item that has Curse of Vanishing on it or store it in a chest, you will not lose it on death.
Unfortunately you cannot remove the Curse of Vanishing from from any item, weapon or armor in the game once it is effected.
Grindstones & Crafting Tables do not have the ability to remove this curse.
The only thing you can do is store the item indefinitely so you don’t lose it or eventually die with the item during one of your adventures.
Pro Tip: If you store an item cursed with vanishing in a Shulker Box & die with the Shulker Box in your inventory, you will not lose the item cursed with vanishing.
You can also set the keepInventory gamerule “true” if you like to play that way.
Java Edition – Curse of vanishing is obtainable in Java Edition through three methods (fishing, chest loot & trading with librarian Villagers.
Bedrock Edition – If you are playing on Bedrock Edition Curse of Vanishing is only obtainable from trading with librarian Villagers.
That’s everything you need to now about obtaining the Curse of Vanishing, how it works & how to remove it!
