Minecraft 1.17 Amethyst Uses

minecraft 1.17 amethyst uses

You will find Amethysts in Geodes that occur naturally underground. Use the item to make the Spyglass and Tinted Glass or add it to your room.

Here is everything that you need to know about this cool item that was added in Minecraft 1.17.

What Can an Amethyst Be Used for?

Amethysts are part of the crafting recipes for the Spyglass (a brand-new zooming tool) and Tinted Glass

Gamers would need an Amethyst Shard and two Copper Ingots to make the Spyglass. For the Tinted Glass, you are going to need to surround a Glass Pane with four Amethyst Shards.

Tip: Amethyst produces a twinkly sound when you interact with it.

Keep an ear out for the second part of the Caves & Cliffs update. Even though at the moment Amethysts are mostly decorative, we may see further changes in part two of the update.

How to Find an Amethyst?

There are different types of Amethyst:

To mine the Amethyst Block use an iron pickaxe or higher.

A Budding Amethyst doesn’t drop anything. It has a ‘cross’ on the faces.

An Amethyst Cluster drops four shards. Use an iron pickaxe or higher.

An Amethyst Shard is acquired from the cluster. Use it in crafting.

Tip: You can craft a block out of four shards.

You can find all the types of Amethysts inside Geodes. Those are structures that occur naturally underground (below Y-level 75). Sometimes you’ll spot them from the surface.

You will most likely come across an Amethyst Geode if you start exploring a giant cave. The outer layer is Smooth Basalt, the middle layer is Calcite, and the center features Amethysts.

Beware of hostile mobs!

To Wrap Up

Unfortunately, you can’t transport an Amethyst Geode back to your house. You would have to keep returning back for more.
