It’s a new year, which means we are starving for some gaming news, and luckily, Sony is gearing up to deliver.

Their totally not Nintendo Direct inspired State of Play is gearing up to return this Wednesday, January 31st.

Starting at 2 pm PST/5 pm EST, it will run for a whopping 40 minutes, covering over 15 games focusing on the upcoming Stellar Blade by Shift Up and Rise of the Ronin developed by Team Ninja.

However, the rumor mill is abound with what else might be featured during this presentation. Gaming insider @Shpeshal_Nick posted a rather cryptic tweet on X, the artist formally known as Twitter.

Fun stuff. Luckily, if you’re not into riddles, X user @Rand_al_Thor_19 is. He broke it down as follows.

  • Rise of the Ronin
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  • Sonic Generations Remaster
  • Silent Hill 2
  • New Metro game
  • Judas

Since he got the date of the State of Play correct, there is a decent amount of credibility to these leaks, though some may seem obvious. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is due to drop on February 29th, showing Sony would want to give some time to the upcoming RPG remake.

More exciting is the reappearance of Kojima’s Death Stranding 2, the sequel to everyone’s favorite delivery man simulator, which was first revealed at the TGA 2022.

And then there’s… a Sonic Generations Remaster. Why? How? As a masochistic Sonic fan, this both thrills and scares me.

Twitter user @Kurakasis added more credibility to the Sonic leak, posting that the alleged remaster will feature Shadow the Hedgehog in addition to our favorite blue blur and will be named “SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS.”

Luckily, all will be revealed soon, so be sure to tune in on YouTube, Twitch, or TikTok this Wednesday.
