Are you new to Retail Tycoon 2 on Roblox? Here is out guide on some of the best ways to get started. This is the prequel to the popular first game Retail Tycoon. In this guide we cover everything you need to know to get started!
Roblox Retail Tycoon 2 Starter Guide
When you first start out in Retail Tycoon 2, you will have a blank store with nothing in it. It is your job to design & build your store to create an income! Here’s how how to get started & begin making $.
Placing Shelving & Display Units
The first thing you want to do when starting a new shop is to purchase shelves & place them around the store. Shelves allow you to place simple starter items on them such as toys & canned foods.
Outside of basic shelves you will eventually need to purchase other types of upgraded storage & display units. There are a bunch of different units, such as clothing racks, cabinets & freezers that each hold different items.
Not every item can be placed on a shelf & some items like eggs & steaks can only be placed in refrigerated storage spaces.
Once you have your shelves placed you will need to purchase & transport goods to put on them. The goods that you sell at your store can be purchased at the Loading Dock.
To run a successful store you will need to buy products that you will re-sell to the customers. To buy your first products, visit the store inventory screen, select products that will fit on your shelves & select the amount to buy.
Keep in mind that you can only place certain products on certain types of shelving or storage. On the right side of the screen each item will show you which type of storage it requires, so make sure you are double checking before purchasing.
There are two different ways to get purchased products into your store:
- Purchase using auto delivery for a 25% additional cost of the products.
- Drive to the loading dock & pick them up yourself for no extra cost.
If you are later in the game then the auto delivery feature is super useful & 100% worth using despite the cost. If you are just starting out, you will have to drive to the loading dock in order to manually pickup your goods.
The Loading Dock
The loading lock is located at the bottom of the long hill next to the global leaderboard. Cross the bridge to the other side of the cliff & you will see a giant sign sticking out from it that says “Loading Dock” in giant neon letters.
After you buy your products in the store inventory menu, you will need to come to the dock in order to pick up your goods. Bring your truck with you & back up into the loading area to receive your goods.
Each item has its own unit size that is used to measure capacity. For example, canned food has a unit size of 2. Meanwhile, something like a large appliance has a unit size of 100.
The starter pickup truck you begin with has a capacity of 300 units. This is enough to transport a few products back to your store without having to make multiple trips.
To stock your shelves open the stocking menu, choose an item you want to stock & select a shelf or unit that can hold that item. If the storage unit can hold the selected item it will glow blue in your store.
You can also hire a re-stocker employee to do it automatically for a fee.
Buying a Better Truck or Car
You can buy a bigger truck at Alan’s Auto store which is located on the outskirts of the map. It is a large glass building with vehicles on display inside of it. It will cost money to upgrade to better trucks.
Each truck has more storage space & more speed. You can also buy a Lambo but it doesn’t have any storage space. It’s mostly for fun & driving fast around the map.
Here is a table of every vehicle available in Retail Tycoon 2:
|Vehicle Type||Cargo Capacity||Acceleration||Top Speed||Price|
|Small Box Truck||1,200||50||95||$17,500|
|Large Box Truck||2,500||40||95||$30,000|
|Electric Box Truck||2,500||85||140||$50,000|
Getting the Cybertruck
The Cybertruck was only available during the beta period of the game. It was a free gift that you could claim as a thank you for playing the game during beta period. You can’t buy or unlock the Cybertruck anymore. It’s a rare vehicle that was only available for a short period of time.
Employees are the backbone of your retail empire. There are 3 types of employees, each with different roles and buffs. Read on below to learn more about the employees.
- Cashiers: Employees that will work on a cash register to automatically work them. This means you don’t have to work the register yourself.
- Restockers: Employees that will work on restocking goods to your shelves.
- Managers: Employees who automatically purchase inventory.
Each employee has a cost and salary associated with it, and also needs a special object to be placed in order to purchase them and their services.
- Cashiers: Cost $200 upfront and $20 every minute.
- Restockers: Cost $200 upfront and $20 every minute.
- Managers: Cost $400 upfront and $40 every minute.
Employees also have a progress bar and levels that they gain over time. As employees gain levels they gain unique buffs.
Below is a table for each employee so you can see the buffs.
|Cashier Level||Exp to Level Up||Buff|
|2||400||20% Checkout Speed|
|3||1600||40% Checkout Speed|
|4||6400||60% Checkout Speed|
|5||Max||80% Checkout Speed|
|Restocker Level||Exp to Level Up||Buff|
|2||400||15% Movement Speed|
|3||1600||30% Movement Speed|
|4||6400||45% Movement Speed|
|5||Max||60% Movement Speed|
|Manager Level||Exp to Level Up||Buff|
|2||400||10% Spending Limit|
|3||1600||20% Spending Limit|
|4||6400||30% Spending Limit|
|5||Max||40% Spending Limit|
We recommend purchasing a cashier or two and a restocker.
We do not recommend purchasing managers when just starting out because they may purchase items you don’t specifically need which may result in a negative balance.
When you are further in the game you will need to only use one manager.
Expanding & Upgrading Your Store
To expand your store you need to purchase walls & place them within your allowable build zone. Expand the store as you please & make sure to add flooring & roofing for each new section of store that you build.
Building materials cost $ and can get very expensive if you try to build too much too quickly. So only make sure to expand your store when you have extra money saved up.
As your store grows you can buy more plots of land & more parking spaces in your parking lot. Make sure you have a sign built out front of your store to attract extra customers & business.
Don’t forget to add decorations like plants & fountains around your store to increase your rating & bring in more customers.
Getting a Bigger Parking Lot
To get a bigger parking lot with more spaces you need to buy them from the infrastructure menu. This menu is the last option under the “build” hammer icon.
Parking spaces are the first item in the menu designated by three white lines. Click to place the spaces outside of your store. Each parking spot will cost $1,000 more than the last one you placed.
