What Are Enchantments in Minecraft?
Enchantments are spells or buffs that you can apply to weapons & items inside of Minecraft.
There are tens of enchantments available & they each do different things from higher weapon damage to increased underwater mining speed.
Adding enchantments to your weapons in gear are important for survival & clearing harder areas in the Minecraft world.
What Does Smite Do?
Smite is one of many enchantments that increase weapon damage but it only works on undead mobs. The Smite enchantment can only be added to swords & axes.
The only mobs that the Smite enchantment works on are: skeletons, zombies, zombie villagers, withers, wither skeletons, zombified piglins, skeleton horses, zombie horses, strays, husks, phantoms, drowned, and zoglins.
The amount of damage that Smite does increases based on the level of enchantment. The highest level you can achieve is Smite V which maxes out the damage you can do to undead mobs.
Each level separately adds 2.5 × 1.25 extra damage on each hit to undead mobs.
There are some other enchantments that Smite does not work with. These are not able to be added if Smite is already active on your weapon.
The enchantments that don’t work with Smite are: Bane of Arthropods, Sharpness & Cleaving.
That is all you need to know about how Smite works in Minecraft!
