Bandai Namco’s latest financial results have revealed a smashing success for Tekken 8, with over two million copies sold worldwide within its first two weeks.

This milestone has exceeded Bandai Namco’s expectations, marking a significant achievement for the popular fighting game series.

Launched on January 26, 2024, Tekken 8 has been available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Its rapid sales pace has outperformed its predecessor, Tekken 7, which took two months to reach the same sales figure.

The financial performance of Bandai Namco has been a mixed bag, with some projects like Blue Protocol not meeting commercial expectations. However, Tekken 8 stands out as a bright spot, with sales figures “better than we’d hoped for at this point,” according to a report from Bernstein on Bandai Namco’s earnings call.

As Tekken 8 continues to draw players worldwide, its early sales success showcases the enduring appeal of the Tekken series and its significance in the fighting game genre.
